Overview
Every DAW multiplies a signal by a number correctly. Pane is the discipline around that one operation: at 0 dB it is bit-identical to its input, it stays silent while you move it, and it adds only the gain you asked for.
No dither, no DC filter, no oversampling, no look-ahead, and zero latency reported at every setting. Nothing to compensate for, nothing to phase-align, nothing that makes a gain stage a decision.
The knob runs −96 to +24 dB with unity fixed at twelve o'clock. The arc is teal at unity and leaves it with the gain, warming toward amber as you boost and cooling toward blue as you cut, so which way you have gone is visible before you read the number.
Key features
Bit-identical at unity
At 0 dB, and when bypassed, the output matches the input sample for sample. Putting it in a chain to keep the level accessible costs nothing at all.
No artefacts when it moves
Gain changes are interpolated per sample and mute or return on a linear fade, so automation and live moves produce no clicks and no zipper noise.
Zero latency, always
Nothing is reported to the host at any setting, because there is nothing to report. There is no oversampling and no look-ahead anywhere in the path.
Colour by direction
Teal at unity, warming toward amber the further you boost and cooling toward blue the further you cut. How far and which way reads from across the room.
Type it, or nudge it
Double-click the readout and type a value. Hold Cmd, or Ctrl on Windows, and click to land on exactly 0 dB, or drag and scroll to move in steps of 0.1 dB.
Light or dark
The face is a switch in the About panel. Your choice is saved with the session and with your presets, and a new instance opens light.
In and out meters
Peak and RMS on both sides, read-only taps, so the level before and after sits side by side rather than in two different places.

One knob, and what it tells you.
The arc changes colour with the gain, so which way you have gone reads before the number does. Light or dark, switched in the About panel.
The face is a switch, and it stays with the session.
The arc warms as you boost, and out reads above in.
Close to unity the arc stays teal.
At the top of the range it is amber, and the output meter has run out of room.
The knob keeps its setting; the meters read the same on both sides.

The installer ships VST3, CLAP and AAX on both macOS and Windows. Audio Unit is macOS only.
